If the pin only has one screw and a GHD stopper at the other side, this is a fake.Second, recently to the market there are a lot of fake purple GHD straighteners, these are the new mk4 IV style ones. The fakes tend to have a purple plug; the real ones have a black one. The fake ones are also over heavily (crudely) patterned. Another common copy is the MK4 IV hot pink styler.Third, now most of you want open a GHD up and attempt your own GHD repair but if you did you would also see that all the internal circuit boards on a fake GHD have soldered points, the real ones have mainly screw fixings. Most GHD repair companies will not look at them because if they fix them and then the irons cause damage or explode those companies take on the liability for the damage. I am sorry to say but the only place for the fakes is the bin. It is an expensive lesson, but better that then holding a potential lethal weapon to your head.
